About Us

Vanguard Publications is the collaboration of Merle Thorpe and Myles Friedman located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Founded in 1988, Vanguard publishes magazines and posters on sports and historical subjects.

Beginning in 1991, Vanguard has published a series of historical wall charts including the History of Baseball in the Major Leagues (1991 through 2017), the History of the NFL (1992 and 1995), the History of World Cup Soccer (1994, 2005, 2007 and 2025), the History of World War II (1995), the History of Golf (1997) and the History of the Civil War (2012).
